About This Role
We're building the financial interface that tens of millions of SMB owners will use to understand their business, make decisions, and ultimately keep the American dream alive. For many of them, Affiniti will be the best software experience they've ever had with their finances. That bar is yours to set.
As our product designer, you're the conduit between what's technically possible and what's actually usable by someone who doesn't have time to read a tooltip. You'll work directly with engineers and leadership to shape every surface of the product. You have an eye that catches what others miss, an instinct for simplicity that's hard to teach, and the conviction to push back when something isn't right.

Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design across our core banking and card platform, from early discovery and research through final shipped UI, working directly with engineers.
- Get into the frontend code when it matters: collaborate in production, QA your own designs at the implementation level, and close the gap between what was designed and what actually ships
- Design AI-native financial experiences that make complex logic, edge cases, and dense data flows feel obvious to a small business owner who just wants to understand their money
- Map and ruthlessly optimize critical user journeys: onboarding, card management, spend insights, cash flow, identifying friction points and building systematic solutions, not one-off fixes
- Conduct direct user research with SMB owners across our core verticals, pharmacies, vet practices, contractors, and let what you learn reshape your assumptions
- Build and maintain a scalable design system that lets the team ship consistently
Qualifications
- Exceptional visual and UX judgment. You see what's off before anyone else names it, and you can articulate why clearly enough to bring engineers and stakeholders with you
- Frontend experience. You've written HTML/CSS, can read a React component, and understand enough about how interfaces are built to design things that are actually implementable
- Deep Figma, Adobe, and other design software proficiency: wireframes, high-fidelity prototypes, component libraries, and a design system others can actually use
- High structural intelligence: you can hold a complex, multi-step product problem in your head, reason through incomplete requirements, and produce clarity where there was ambiguity
- Bonus: prior experience in fintech, banking, or financial products. You understand compliance constraints, dense data surfaces, and trust-sensitive UX patterns.
- A high ownership, do what it takes mentality, that doesn’t see a job as “just a job”
